Tay's 9th

Tay Tay turned NINE on Friday. This is her last year in the single digits! I would say it's crazy to me that she is getting so old, but it's not. She is definitely approaching her tween years-the attitude and emotions are flowin' like crazy in this house so it sometimes feels like she's 9 going on 16...

She is, at 9 years old, her own person. She likes what she likes and does what she wants to do and doesn't give a hoot what anyone else is doing. She surprised us all when she started begging for a skateboard and skateboarding lessons for her Birthday. We weren't able to deliver on the lessons unfortunately, but we did get her a whole slew of new skate gear. It is a lot of fun for me to watch her practice on her skateboard. I never would have imagined, when she was a girly girl toddler decked out in dresses and putting diapers on stuffed animals that she would turn into a wannabe skater chic at 9 years old. But she makes one darling skater chic and I am proud of her for being brave enough to try new things.

This year's Birthday was low key. We had our family party for her in Eden, so on her actual Birthday we didn't do too much. She was able to choose her breakfast, she chose gluten free french toast, chocolate milk and bacon. Then she opened a few gifts from Kendrick and I because we felt bad not having her open anything on her actual Birthday, so we saved some for her from Eden. After presents she got dressed and then spent the entire day playing with her friend, Dallas.

Kendrick was able to come home early and we had a movie/gluten free pizza night (courtesy Dominoes awesome gluten free pizza). We watched Ghostbusters and Kendrick and the kids had ice cream and then we took a late night walk. It was the most chill Birthday we have had around here in awhile. It was kind of a nice change of pace, but I do prefer to make a BIG deal out of my kid's Birthdays. Even though it was chill, Tay still scored a ton of loot. This year we are going to have her start writing thank you cards for her gifts so here is a list of all the fun stuff she got:

A One Direction desk set and an outfit from Richard and Tiana
A dress, skate helmet, knee/elbow and wrist pads and earrings from Grandma and Grandpa Winter
A Zoobooks magazine subscriptrion from Silly Grandma and Grandpa Phillip
$9 from Great Grandma and Grandpa Harris
A stuffed guinea pig, fashion book, colored pencils, skateboard, skate shoes, One Direction cd and socks from Mom and Dad

And what kind of Birthday post would it be without a few pictures!? I tried, I really tried to bust out the camera and take a few pictures, but after breakfast I put the camera away and then forgot to get it back out. So here are a few from her Birthday morning and then a few we took with Kendrick's phone that night as we watched a movie...

We love you Taylor! We hope you had an awesome 9th Birthday!
