I can't remember what brought it up, but sometime at the end of spring Kendrick got it in his head that he really wanted to do a boys only camping trip. Originally he thought it'd be fun to go with my brother and dad and then he had plans to have a friend of his go with him and our boys, but in the end it just ended up being Kendrick and our boys. And they all LOVED it. It looks like we'll have to put this fun new summer tradition on our calendar...
Kendrick took all 3 boys on a little overnight camping/fishing trip on Saturday night and they all had a BLAST! Our boys were so good and so helpful. And even though I had a mild case of anxiety over worrying about whether or not Kendrick would go crazy with them all by himself-it was all for nothing because the boys did wonderful and they loved every minute of bonding with their dad.
They left Saturday afternoon and grabbed a Little Caesars pizza to eat on the way up to Wasatch Mountain State Park and then they enjoyed an evening without us girls. They ate a lot of animal products and fished and took walks and made s'mores and farted and burped all without having to worry about their mom nagging them. Easton called me after they had been there about an hour and informed me that he was "brave" because he pooped in the potty by himself. I asked him if the potty flushed and he said, "Yes! That's why I was brave!" Well, I would be brave too if I didn't have to worry about my tiny hiney falling into a vaulted toilet. My hiney isn't so tiny anymore and I still worry about falling in.
Taylor and I "enjoyed" (aka fought about where to go back to school shopping, had meltdowns over what to eat for dinner, and threw temper tantrums about having to take a shower at 10:00 at night) an evening at home. I missed having the boys, all 4 of them, home at night. It was awfully quiet around here and it turns out that I don't fall asleep as well when I don't have a snoring husband next to me. But I'm glad they got to go and it was fun to hear them talk about all the fun they had. Maybe Tay and I should start our own yearly tradition of "girl camping" (aka staying in a hotel and having spa days).

Cheetos and hot dogs- the dinner of champions. I asked them if they put a single piece of fruit in their mouths while they were gone and they all happily replied, "nope!"
While they were fishing the next day this baby goose came up and sat RIGHT next to Kendrick. It even let Kendrick and the boys pet it!
Isn't that crazy/darling!?
The goose quickly fell in love with Easton (honestly, who doesn't?) and Easton was more than happy to take time out from fishing to bond with a baby goose.
Here he is watching it
And then asking it, "Am I your mommy now?"
When he wasn't with his goose he was busy fishing. Apparently he walked right up to the water, cast his pole 3 feet from where he was standing and caught a fish each time! This boy has the BEST luck when it comes to fishing!
After they were done fishing, and on their way back to the car, the baby goose tried to follow them. Kendrick was able to get Easton's reaction on video:
